While there are many dogs that pull on walks, any dog can learn to walk calmly on a loose leash if we create a positive learning environment and teach them in the way that their minds understand. Find out how using positive reinforcement you can condition your dog to stay next to you and stop pulling when you take them for a walk. ****This is one in a series of dog training tutorials that I have made. Clicker training is demonstrated in this video – but not fully explained. Check out this video for a better explanation of how it works: www.youtube.com If you have questions about anything related to this video, let me know in the comments section. Please remember to subscribe to my channel & support positive reinforcement as a way of teaching and training. With everything that they do for us, animals deserve nothing less than kindness & love. I have two dogs that always bark when a car pulls into my driveway and when people knock on my door. One of these dogs also barks as loudly as possible when I let her out at night when she has to go to the bathroom.
I’ve got a conformation show coming up next week so I’ve pretty much just been working with my Border Collie puppy on conformation training.
She has manners, but usually I have my dogs trained for novice obedience by the time they’re 5 months (if I get them as a puppy). I’ve been thinking about just letting her grow up, then do obedience. She has the basics down, just not ring ready yet (for obedience).
Would this be a bad idea? I’m worried she won’t be as good in obedience if I waited until she was older. Like, she’ll just be used to hanging out with me and not be serious about obedience. She’s already trained like a dream for conformation..
Plus I’ve been told by older trainers I need to quit training young dogs.. BUT, these were people who’ve been showing in obedience wayyy longer than me, but my 6 month old puppy was beating their adult dog who they’ve been trying to title for a long time.
Anne B: Really? I’ve titled a 6 month and 3 day old aussie pup in Novice obedience (far as I know, youngest dog in AKC to ear an obedience title). And put a novice (CD) title on a 7 month old Border Collie pup. My aussie pup also went high in trial/match at 5 months old from the novice class (they can be young at matches).

We moved to an area where the neighbors are really close and they are building houses here so my dogs wont stop barking. I read about those non bark collars but seems a little unfair to shock them. I saw something what you gotta put outside and when they bark, they will here a sharp ultrasound. has someone tried that? Also one of my dog..he is not really barking ,rather squeeking very loud, and it is so annoying…anything for that?
I have an eight month old puppy. Every time she hears a dog bark on t.v. she goes nuts. She does n’ t realize it comes from the t.v. We tried to watch a movie with dogs in it once and she was freaking out.
We even watched the N.Y. dog show so that she could see them barking and they’d stay on screen longer . She watched that very interested for an hour.
But then she just went back to barking whenever she hears even the slightest bark and she keeps looking at the windows.
I don’t think you’re getting it. She gets upset when she hears them and keeps walking around looking for them. Maybe she was born around big dogs that scared her or something.. It’s not cute or funny or a neat trick.
