Dog food aggression can be witnessed when a dog snarls or growls when another dog or the dog owner approaches with food. I was so unhappy when my dog started attacking my friend’s dog over a plate of food. My friend asked, “oh girl did you really feed this dog? he is pursuing food like crazy”. Imagine how i felt about the scene even though i have observed that my dog has that behavior earlier but ignored it. Then i thought, this is the time to do something to help my dog. You can help such dogs by taking it to see a veterinarian doctor. This is because it has been proven that some medical conditions in a dog can provoke the dog food aggression. Medical analysis and treatment can be given to the dog when necessary to give you a happy and a friendly dog.
Your dog might need exercises as a solution because it will help in release of its energy. Lack of exercise in a dog has the tendency to provoke the dog to food aggression. Having no exercises can make the dog feel nervous which can then lead it to start acting aggressively towards others in the presence of food.
Finally, your dog might need the services of a dog behavioral specialist. They will help you to look into the behavior of the dog to see the areas that need discipline. Their services will help you to address the dog food aggression problem. You can discipline your dog not by beating it up by rewarding and encouraging it to positive behaviors.
