When crate training a puppy, what do you do when he won’t accept the crate?

I am housebreaking a 12 week old puppy using the crate training method. He hates the crate and immediately starts whining, worrying, clawing at the door, etc. He is normally a very calm and contented puppy. What can I do to make this more acceptable to him, both for housebreaking and for other times he needs to be crated? We have not put him in the crate for more than a few minutes at this point, because he is so incensed about it! If it has any bearing on your answer, he’s a cockapoo.

Crate training 5 dogs…..please help :)?

We recently moved in our new house friday…..we have 3 shih-tzu who are around 2 years old, another shih-tzu who is 1 and we have a yorkshire/shetland collie mix who is 4 months old. Since we moved and we had had some problems in our previous house with them going outside (and they even had a doggy door) i decided to try crate training….now since we moved here ive been putting them in thier crates at night…..in the morning i let them outside to potty…bring them back in to eat…then back outside to potty again….after that i bring them back in to play around the house….or simply just leave the door open so they can come and go as they wish. But i have found some “accidents” (pee) after they come back in the last time….im hoping someone can help me out with some tips….or tell me what im doing wrong…or if im doing anything wrong….now since we moved i also got a petsafe underground fence for them. which i only have collars on my 2 oldest and on my 1 year old because they are the explorers…and since we live on a farm in a field with cows….im scared they would be stomped or hurt by my uncles dogs who are bigger and meaner who is just right over the hill i got the system. Now sophie and cutter is scared to death to go outside….and when i put them out they just sit by the door…..they have been corrected a couple times….even though i have walked them around the acre and a half showing them the flags and telling them they cannot go past that….Gyzmo my other shih-tzu is completely fine running all around and knows his boundaries. he learned the first day and shows no sign of fear whatsoever. anyhow….i just feel like im in a rut….and i would greatly appreciate any help anyone is willing to offer :) thank you so much

Looking for an answer to crate training my dog?

Over the last 6 months we have been crate training our dog. The crate is the perfect size for him. Just over the last month, he has started barking almost the entire night. He has also recently started to pee a little in the back of the crate. He did fine for so long, but now it seems like a total regression. It is so hard to be happy with a dog that barks all night and pees himself. Please, does anybody have a solution?
The dog is in the other room of the house. The reason being is that allergies have arisen from other members of the household. We do take his water away 2 hours before bed and do puit him out before we go to bed. I let him out at night to pee when he first barks….but as soon as he’s back in, he starts barking again. He’s not in the crate all day, only at night. I really think it’ more of an attention thing.

Potty and crate training dogs.?

Ive got a weenie dog that’s less than a year old and a Yorkie that is a couple years old. Neither are very well potty trained and I would like to get them used to being in cages at night when everyone goes to bed. Any advice on how I can somewhat quickly do these things?
