What do you think are the most dangerous dogs?
This total plank posted this blog about “Danerous Dogs”
Number 9, was Boxer. Also on the top ten list was Chows, Huskies and ALSATIONS at number three.
Alsations are fantastic dogs and one of my favourite breeds. I just think it’s wrong to generalise dogs, ezpecially if your someone know-it-all computer geek who thinks they know it all about dogs.
Please look at the site and tell me if yu think it’s a load of bull too.

Pitbulls and Rottweilers are not nice and dangerous, but I don’t agree with German Shepherd and Husky and Boxers with my experience with them.

Pit bulls, Rotwielers, Dobermans & German Sheps.

Pit Bulls are number one on the list. They keep data as to the most dangerous dogs and have every bite, mauling, killing and such documented in the states. Number 3 I believe are Shepherds based on the US data.
These are not computer geeks who come up with the list, this data is by reported dig bites and the number of people injured or killed by certain dangerous breeds. Pit Bulls rank at the top of the list of dangerous dogs.

Yes my Boxer is dangerous. Him and his huge tongue slobbering all over me all the time. Oh and knocking me over jumping up with his paws on my shoulders trying to hug me. Yes, he’s definitely dangerous.. ha!!
Those lists are ridiculous.

Dangerous dogs are the ones who don’t have responsible owners who train them to be vicious. Plain and simple. I’ve had 2 dobermans (one of whom is still around) and they’re lovely dogs when treated with the respect and love that any animal deserves.

The ones with the most dangerous owners

Boxers are gentle and playfull, loves children,
That bloke knows nothing….

Personally I believe it tends to be the untrained dog that are most dangerous, something those lists NEVER take into account.
As for Alsatians/GSD being #3 the very very often include bites inflicted by police dogs into those “statistics”.

Any dog, bred from parents with unstable temperaments, untrained, and unkept can be dangerous.
Due to the popularity of certain breeds, of course they are going to make it on the dangerous dog list. They have been bred on demand from lousy breeding stock to meet that demand, and all but ruined great breeds like the rottiweiler and other dogs on his “list”
The guy’s an idiot, pulling info off the net that is based in fact, but highly skewed

The most dangerous dog is an untrained, intact dog with an owner who has no idea how to care or lead him/her.
September 6th, 2010 at 8:53 pm
The ones that are poorly bred, and/or owned by owners that don’t properly train or socalize them or intentionally make them aggressive.
Edit: Looks like you are buying into the same hype you are complaining about. APBT and Rotties are no more “not nice” or “dangerous” than any other breed if properly bred and owned by responsible owners. I have personally known some nice examples of both breeds I would trust over some members of the “safe” breeds I have met

I think that the most dangerous dogs are the untrained, unsocialized and undisciplined.
I have met babied, uncontrolled chihuahuas that are more dangerous than my bully breed… which, according to statistics, is one of the most dangerous breeds you can own.
Hooch is amazing.

Any dog owned by morons.
Unfortunately the types of dogs listed tend to attract the wrong crowed and have been over/ badly breed due to demand.
I own/ have owned/ will continue to own 2 + 6
ps. Thats a fluffy kitten sitting on my “Dangerous Dogs” head.
GSD aren’t dangerous because there your favorite breed but others are. I really can’t believe you said that, not in those words but that’s what i got out of your add on, Excuse me while I recover from shock. GSD, husky etc have just as much ability to be as dangerous as any other dog. Dose my experience trump your experience because the nicest dogs I have ever meet were dobes/ rottweilers and the scariest a boxer? I suggest you go and get some more experience before you judge breeds. Can you tell why exactly a rottweiler is more “dangerous” than a GSD?

The most “dangerous” dogs, REGARDLESS OF BREED, are those dogs who were bred without due attention to the temperament of the sire and dam (and previous generations within the given family tree)–whether in ignorance or mal-intent. In addition, these dogs, then raised poorly or inappropriately (also by way of ignorence or mal-intent), are those most likely to do harm to both people and other animals.
The bottom line is that the issue of “danger” in NOT breed specific, and anti-breed dog legislation is the LEAST effective manner to safeguard the public interest.
Perhaps it is time we looked more closely at those operations that deal in dogs as a commodity, not as living entities whose requirements extend beyond the means or interest of commercial breeding, dog brokerages and pet store fronts. Not unlike human children in need of a nurturing environment to thrive and grow into the adults we hope for, those who breed puppies of any breed in a responsible manner choose the right family for those puppies on an individual basis. It is not enough to merely show up with money in hand to buy a dog from a good breeder.
Take the time to do your homework and you will find that those targeted breeds properly bred and raised are as delightful and family oriented as those assumed to be so (and often are not). People will spend inordinate amounts of time in buying a car–shop every lot–read every review and then sell it in 3-5 years. A family pet is no inanimate object–and is member of your family for life (or should be)–frequently for 10-15 years. Take your time, don’t buy into hype either positive or negative (incidentally, the concept of a designer dog that will only have the best genes from each parent is a myth created by some very clever marketing folks–it is an unreliable genetic assortment that may or may not be what you are looking for and being told—in other words–a good old-fashioned ‘mutt’/mixed breed–and very often a very expensive one with promises the dog cannot keep)

I was with you until you said my breed of dog is dangerous. Honey, 30 years ago, German Shepherds and Dobermans would’ve been at the top the list. Rottweilers and American Pit Bull Terrier’s, were hardly recognized because idiots and the media were to busy publicizing the GSD and Dobie.
Reality of the situation is, these list are BULL. The only dangerous dogs, are the ones that are owned irresponsible idiots and there are cases where alot of them are POORLY bred and unstable. But that happens in every breed, even in Labs and Goldens.

The ones with the irresponsible owners that don’t bother to train and socialize their dog…There is no such thing as a dangerous dog, only ignorant humans.

pitbulls….duh!!!

No dangerous breed for me. I don’t agree with this. I don’t think any dog is born dangerous by nature.
The reason of this bad rep is due to: a) BAD BREEDING b) BAD OWNERS. The last one specially. People should do a little research before getting themselves a powerful, strong breed that they may not handle.
Most of the dogs you’ve mencioned need a headstrong, confident, dominant owner. When not so, then they become dangerous dogs.
Just for you to see how ANY dog can be dangerous, my neighbour’s golden retriever has attacked my dogs twice, and they both needed minimal surgery in both times.
