Jul 18, 2011 | 0 | Dog Obedience Schoolsshe is gonna be a 2 year old German Shepard/lab mix. she has been neutered/spayed. i don’t have the $200 (the cheapest obedience school) to have her trained. i have been training her myself and she knows the basics sit, lay, stay. but she so hyper i can’t get her to do it for long. i have a lil brother that is scared of her because she is so hyper.
she doesnt jump but she will weave threw your legs and make me fall down, and then she will jump on me. SHE IS A HUGE DOG! IM 6’3″ AND SHES PAST MY KNEE! i really need her to calm down! i thought she’d grow out of it but she hasn’t! PLEASE HELP!
So I have a Husky mix and she’s a little over a year old, and she was at my school for about 6 months (I go to school for vet tech and we keep animals on site and then adopt them out), and was in a shelter before that, but I’m unaware of her history and such. Well, she has some problems. One, she barks and growls at my mom and step dad, but I think she’s getting a little better about that, but the other day she nearly attacked my mom as my mom was walking out of my room. I have to hold my dog by the collar if my mom comes in my room. But my main concern is her jumping on me when I am standing, sitting or sleeping. It seems no matter how much I tell her no, she doesn’t get it. So I’ve come to the conclusion she had some serious trauma as a puppy and/or wasn’t trained right as a puppy. Earlier she was going nuts and was running around my room and for a second, I thought she was gonna bite me. On average, how much would obedience classes cost? I really need to get this problem fixed ASAP!
She’s a good dog but goes through spurts where it’s almost like she just freaks out and I don’t understand it. I don’t want to give her away because I know she won’t ever get the proper training she needs.
Ok so I asked about the question if my dog should be inside or outside and I got good answers. Thank you. But now I have a problem…
I asked my Dad if he would send my dog to obedience school. And he said “My kids, I’ll teach. My dog, I won’t.”
Also.. even though I love my dog. I am sure he would be much happier with a loving family (instead of mine). Don’t get me wrong. I sneak my dog inside the house and outside to play with him. Sometimes I get caught. Anyways. I asked my dad “Well, can we give him away to a family that loves him and teaches him good mannars?” my dad replied….
“No, Me and My dog wanna be here.” I know this is VERY untrue. My dog doesn’t wanna be locked up in the basement all day until he can go outside.
I wanna train my dog, thing is that I can’t train him inside…

She has a tendency to be aggressive on walks when she runs into dogs, but our dog trainer told us she is great at her obedience school with dogs…should I rescue another dog, or not take the chance. My dog needs a companion though for when we are not home…HELP!!
Jun 11, 2011 | 8 | Dog Obedience SchoolsI recently enrolled my new rescue dog into an obedience class. So far, I have successfully helped 3 pound dogs through obedience school, but none that were as aggressive as Morgan. He’s a 3 year old german shepherd and has major stress aggression. He’s perfectly fine with my other two black labs but not with dogs he doesn’t know.
He’s a strong dog and i sometimes have trouble controlling him. I would feel much better about the safety of the dogs around him if he wore a muzzle.
I don’t want to take him out of the class because then he would be an aggressive, antisocial dog for the rest of his life and i want to stop this problem now.
I would never let my guard down around Morgan because situations can change in a second when he’s involved so a muzzle wouldn’t give me false security but i need to know that there’s going to be something stopping his sharp teeth ripping into another dog’s neck.
Which muzzle would be best?
I need to be able to give him treats while he’s wearing it.
He needs to be able to drink.
He needs to be able to pant as usual.
He still needs to be able to sniff other dogs or he will never become socialized.
I need a good dog training school thats in San jose and teaches:
obedience
Tricks,
Manners
games
and doin their business on a puppy/ dog pad..
oh yea and it has to be close to downtown or Willow Glen area
