I was attacked by a pitbull on Christmas. The owner of the dog has two pitbulls but he did not have proper insurance coverage for the dogs, so he was fined $3,000 ($1,500 per dog) by the dog warden.
I asked the owner of the dogs to put the one that bit me to sleep, as it has bit 8 people, including myself in the past. To my surprise, he refused to have the dog put down.
Aren’t there laws stating that once a dog attacks a person, it should be put to sleep? The dog warden said he could keep his dogs, so long as he paid the fine but I do not see how this is fair, as the dog has an extensive history of attacking people.
Where could I find out about specific vicious dog laws in the state of Ohio. Could I call my local courthouse for this information?
