I was just wondering whether to hire a professional trainer to crate train my puppy of should I go myself and train him. What do you guys think is the best choice to opt for. Since I am just a student I do have a lot of time to spend with my dog training him.

Because I’m getting 2 puppies and I want to be able to crate train them correctly so that they grow up with training. Also how long can puppies be left on their own for, in a day?

My Mr. Spanky is 3 months old and I tried crate training him (half successfully) for the past 3 days. He absoloutely hates it. He cries and screams all night.
I’m soon moving into an apartment and will no longer have a yard so I’m thinking litter box training may be best for him.
He is okay being by himself, just not when he is in the crate. He’s decently potty trained already. He almost exclusively uses his potty training pads, or goes outside. I’m so proud of his progess.
So my question is, me living in an apartment (and I’m a student) would it be in his best interest to be litter box trained instead? and how difficult is it as opposed to crate training?
And another question is, since he’ll be joining a slightly older puppy (9 months) who is not potty trained and is STILL using the paper would it be best to litter box train her too?
Thanks for any help. I really appreciate my fellow animal lovers.
Pics of the puppies below in case of those interested.

(and for those who hate people who dress their dogs, I’m not trying to hear it. She actually enjoys playing dress up. We make it fun for her.)
Sailor: Thank you for wasting your time and mines. That’s 30 seconds I will not get back of my wasted time.
The 9 month year old I took from my sister because she didn’t train or care her. I am taking over her care. Yes! She is spayed! And yes! I can afford health care for both! Yes! The apartment allows pet.
I get payed to go to school. And I have a job. I have enough disposable income to properly care and spoil the two.
Care to answer my question now? Nevermind, because you would probably give me another ignorant answer not worth reading.
Thank you for all serious answers.
GiGi shows signs of improvement, but she is a little more headstrong than Mr. Spanky. She has picked up bad habits from when my sister failed to correct her mistakes.
Chiquita Mr. Spanky is a mixed breed. He’s half maltese and half toy poodle. But he does look like a bichon and his fur feels like it too.

For example if I’ve played with him and he’s eliminated outside but now I really need to make beds or do laundry or pay bills do I have him tag along or does he take a break in the crate?

I have a 10 week old Boxer and he’s been doing really well with the potty training. surprisingly he almost has it
we’re now starting to crate train him to associate the crate with a safe place and not a bad place. he sleeps in it at night, but because of that he associates the crate with bedtime and when he goes in it he either sleeps or doesnt want to go in because he thinks he’s going to sleep. meanwhile we just want him in it during dinner or cleaning, etc…
any suggestions to make this a less stressful process? eventualyl when he can control his bladder for a longer period of time he will be home instead of with me all day.

We will be crate training our puppies as we have with all the others. I just wondered if inbetween going out to catch the mishaps, use the diapers. Any suggestions?
(I have never used them before)

I am getting my new yorkie puppy from a very good and responsible breeder next month. They have trained the puppies in their home to use a doggy door to go outside. But I dont have that so I would have to find another way of potty training. I will be home all day with him, but I want him to learn to bark when he needs the toilet. Is crate training the best?
Thanks

I have read about crate training alot and they say that puppies eventually LOVE their crate. My 8 week old puppy goes to bed well but between 4:30 and 5:30am he needs to go to the bathroom. The problem is he does not want to go back in after that and he cries and howls for about 45 minutes. How can I get him to enjoy his crate and let me get some sleep until I can get up with him for the day? Is this possible?

Does anyone know if there are special tips for crate training a puppy while already having an adult obedient dog that is not kept in a crate any longer? I’m about to get a puppy who I plan on crate training, but I already have an extremely obedient dog who is left free rein of the house at all times. Will this make things harder?

I have two American Eskimo puppies that are out at night and of course, destroy the house or more specifically my bedroom. I am at work all day and keep them in their crates then. My question is am I okay to lock them up in their crates at night, too? A part of me thinks its cruel that they are locked up so much but I know most owners do that and it works.
I appreciate all answers but would love to hear from breeders and vets. Thanks so much.

Also:
I walk them 3 or 4 times a day and they love to run and play outside with me. If you don’t leave them in a crate where in the heck do you put them if you are not around? If you are going to say crate training isn’t the best method please suggest something else.
