I’m familiar with one way to introduce dogs to each other by walking them together, but is there a way to introduce a new dog to a house with dogs by using a crate? I don’t actually know if there’s a way, just wondering. Any other advice on introducing dogs OR crate training welcome.
I gave up on this method of potty training. Apparently your dog is supposed to learn to hold the pee/poo until morning, right? Well my Pomeranian pup didn’t. I always found poo in her crate, and it’s not a big crate, it’s the right size. Should I try again putting her in the crate again? She’s 7 months and still not potty trained. Any advice?!
I live on a farm with 10 dogs and not ONE of them has been crate trained and not ONE of them has a problem with it. We got some as puppies, some as young adults, and some as older dogs. Crate training is for lazy people who dont want to deal with the dog so they stick it in the crate…Does ANYONE agree with me???
NO all of our dogs stay inside with us, and we do work. I HATE city people who think we just sit here all day
We recently moved in our new house friday…..we have 3 shih-tzu who are around 2 years old, another shih-tzu who is 1 and we have a yorkshire/shetland collie mix who is 4 months old. Since we moved and we had had some problems in our previous house with them going outside (and they even had a doggy door) i decided to try crate training….now since we moved here ive been putting them in thier crates at night…..in the morning i let them outside to potty…bring them back in to eat…then back outside to potty again….after that i bring them back in to play around the house….or simply just leave the door open so they can come and go as they wish. But i have found some “accidents” (pee) after they come back in the last time….im hoping someone can help me out with some tips….or tell me what im doing wrong…or if im doing anything wrong….now since we moved i also got a petsafe underground fence for them. which i only have collars on my 2 oldest and on my 1 year old because they are the explorers…and since we live on a farm in a field with cows….im scared they would be stomped or hurt by my uncles dogs who are bigger and meaner who is just right over the hill i got the system. Now sophie and cutter is scared to death to go outside….and when i put them out they just sit by the door…..they have been corrected a couple times….even though i have walked them around the acre and a half showing them the flags and telling them they cannot go past that….Gyzmo my other shih-tzu is completely fine running all around and knows his boundaries. he learned the first day and shows no sign of fear whatsoever. anyhow….i just feel like im in a rut….and i would greatly appreciate any help anyone is willing to offer thank you so much
Over the last 6 months we have been crate training our dog. The crate is the perfect size for him. Just over the last month, he has started barking almost the entire night. He has also recently started to pee a little in the back of the crate. He did fine for so long, but now it seems like a total regression. It is so hard to be happy with a dog that barks all night and pees himself. Please, does anybody have a solution?
The dog is in the other room of the house. The reason being is that allergies have arisen from other members of the household. We do take his water away 2 hours before bed and do puit him out before we go to bed. I let him out at night to pee when he first barks….but as soon as he’s back in, he starts barking again. He’s not in the crate all day, only at night. I really think it’ more of an attention thing.
Ive got a weenie dog that’s less than a year old and a Yorkie that is a couple years old. Neither are very well potty trained and I would like to get them used to being in cages at night when everyone goes to bed. Any advice on how I can somewhat quickly do these things?
I have two, two year old Chihuahua’s. They were never properly potty trained but, we heard from a close family friend how effective crate training can be. Will it be possible to train them even though they are older dogs? Another concern is that they’ll get sick and have a bladder infection because they have to hold it. Can someone help us? And if anyone has any other tips or advice it would be greatly appreciated! :]
